Visit Permit for Residents of Macao SAR to Hong Kong SAR

A. Eligibility

 

Applicants who satisfy all of the following conditions are eligible to apply for the Visit Permit for Residents of the Macao SAR to the Hong Kong SAR (hereafter referred as Visit Permit to HKSAR):

  • Macao SAR Resident (limited to Chinese or Portuguese citizen);
  • Holders of Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card or Macao SAR Non-Permanent Resident Identity Card.
 
B. Submission and presentation of documents
 
Please submit the following documents:
  • The original of Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card, or Macao SAR Non-Permanent Resident Identity Card (The original will be returned upon verification);
  • Photograph which meets specific requirements; one recent, color, bareheaded and full-faced photograph in plain white background in 1.5 inches; (Photograph specifications);
  • The original of Visit Permit to HKSAR, in case of renewal;
  • An official loss report issued by the competent authority (e.g. police) if applicants cannot submit the former Visit Permit to HKSAR;
  • Original identification documents of both parents or the legal guardian (will be returned after verification and photocopying) if applicants are under the age of 18. Signatures of both parents or the legal guardian are required on the application form.
    1. Remarks 1: If either parent cannot accompany his/her child to apply for the travel document, such parent has to fill out the authorization form and provide a photocopy of a valid identification document which bears his/her signature.
      Remarks 2: If parents of the applicant are in the state of unmarried, separation, partition of property or divorce, or either parent is unable to sign the application form due to certain reason (e.g. missing), the other parent has to prove his/her entitlement to exercise parental right in order to lodge the application for underage children.
  • Visit Permit to HKSAR is issued on an individual basis, the applicant's spouse and children should apply for their own document;
  • If the applicant is in Macau, he/she has to lodge the application at the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) in person.

    C. Fees
     
    • MOP 100.00
    • Applicants who are lack of financial capability due to following conditions  can apply for exemption of application fees:

    Unemployment

    1) Applicants have to write and sign a declaration to declare their unemployment status and they acknowledge that they will commit criminal offences for making false declaration.
    2) Submit the Employment Registration issued by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), if any.

    Poverty

    1) The applicant has to write and sign a letter to request for fee exemption;
    2) Submit the original and a photocopy of a valid Beneficiary Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS).

    Disability

    1)  Applicants have to write and sign a declaration to declare their financial incapability;
    2)  Submit the original and a photocopy of a valid Disability Assessment Registration Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS).

    Note: Additional supporting documents may be required for the verification of applicant’s financial incapability verification of DSI, if necessary.

     
    D. Date of Collection
     
    • 5 working days after the date of submission of all required documents (exclusive of the date of submission).
     
    E. Validity
     
    • The validity of the “Visit Permit to HKSAR” must not exceed 7 years and the holder has to apply for a new permit after its expiry. The holder can pay multiple visits to the Hong Kong SAR with a valid “Visit Permit to HKSAR”.
     
    F. Period of Stay
     
    • 1. Macao SAR Permanent Residents possessing a "Visit Permit for Residents of Macao SAR to the HKSAR" can enter the HKSAR as visitors and stay for a maximum period of 180 days if the immigration requirements are duly fulfilled.
    • 2. Macao SAR Non-Permanent Residents possessing a "Visit Permit for Residents of Macao SAR to the HKSAR" can enter the HKSAR as visitors and stay for a maximum period of 30 days if the immigration requirements are duly fulfilled.
